Road Trip 2019: 8 days till the open road

Bags are packed, details in order, house sitter in order, doggies all set and we are 8 days from the open road!

We will be in the Sedona for 5 days.   Tammy and Tommy will be heading out after Sedona.  Todd and I will carry on to the last leg of our trip.

Sedona to  Apache Junction, AZ.  We will explore The Lost Dutchman State Park and get a close up of the Saguaro Cacti and explore a trail through the Superstition Mountains.  There are some fires burning at the present time, hopefully all will be cleared by the time we arrive.

Next stop will be Las Cruces, New Mexico.  This is on the “relocation” list for Toddy and I.  We will visit Old Mesilla Village and do some shopping, exploring and dinner at the famous La Posta de Mesilla .

We will let our hair down, but leave our clothes on,  while sampling some of the finest tequilas this Tequileria has to offer.  Over 100 are offered, I am not a shot girl so I have my sites set on the famous Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita!

Next stop!  Terlingua, TX.  We will visit The Ghost Town in Terlingua and head out to the natural hot springs of Big Bend National Park

“Hot spring water is considered old water, fossil water, ancient and irreplaceable. Heated by geothermal processes and emerging at 105° F., the water carries dissolved mineral salts reputed to have healing powers.”

This is a photo of the Hot Springs at Big Bend National Park.  Directly across (the graveled area) is Mexico. The water between the two, is the Rio Grande.  The thought of  sitting in the springs and staring at a stone wall, is unbearable.  I pray that day never comes.  This serves as a reality.  It paints a picture of the aesthetic damage a wall will cause to our National Parks, that does not seem “American to me”, or will it  “Make America Great” ever.Rio_Grande_in_Big_Bend_NPtexas-big-bend-national-park-hot-springs-soaking.jpg

After spending time in Big Bend National Park, some exploring and hiking, we will plan our journey back to Connecticut.

On the way back home we will stop in Nashville, TN  for a couple of days to check in with our son and his girlfriend.

Now that we have shared our intended itinerary, please stay tuned for the “real time” journey.  Hoping for some positive vibes and additions to this road trip.  Please feel free to add your comments and experiences!  We would love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading and following my blog!  Get out there and do something good today.
